Q: What is an Imperial Stout?

A: In the 1800’s, Beer – mostly Stouts – were brewed in England and then shipped to Russia, specifically for the Imperial Court of Russia. The recipes were adjusted to increase their alcohol content or “proof.” Hops and Malts were doubled or even tripled to produce an 8% to 12% A.B.U.
