The Hometown Foundation, Inc. in conjunction with McCaffrey’s Food Markets donates “K-9 Judge” to the Lower Makefield Township Police Department.
Yardley, PA – The Hometown Foundation, Inc. in conjunction with McCaffrey’s Food Markets, recently donated a dual purpose K-9 to the Lower Makefield Township Police Department. This donation wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of Jim McCaffrey IV, co-owner of McCaffrey’s Food Markets who fully understands the importance of keeping communities safe. Before joining his father, Jim McCaffrey III, in the business, Jim McCaffrey IV was a former K-9 officer and has firsthand knowledge of how important the role a K-9 plays in community policing.
Working carefully with handler Officer Steve Tamburo and Kennel Zo Slovenskeho Dvora in Trumbull, CT the selection of a dual-purpose Belgian Malinois was chosen. The team started their extensive training in October 2022 at the Philadelphia Police Canine Training facility and has recently graduated from the patrol and narcotics programs.
K-9 Judge is a dual-purpose patrol dog and will specialize in obedience, tracking, building/area searches, evidence recovery, suspect apprehension and detection for illegal
narcotics. K-9 Judge joins the current K-9 Unit which consists of two additional canines trained in narcotics and bomb detection. K-9 Judge will become a staple in the township and will be on display for many community events and public demonstrations.
We want to thank McCaffrey’s Food Markets for recognizing the community need and caring about the residents of Lower Makefield Township. We hope you will join us for a meet and greet with handler Officer Steve Tamburo and K-9 Judge on Thursday, June 1st, 4 – 5 p.m. at McCaffrey’s Food Markets located at 635 Heacock Road, Yardley, PA 19067.
